Re: [rosacea] stress and neurophatic pain

Hi Beth, Thanks for those nice comments! You guys always cheer me up also:) As for as the burning face I know how that feels. I think it is fairly common and happens often to people who flush with their rosacea. That is by far my worst symptom! Whenever I flush (even just a little) my face feels like there is acid on it. The worse I flush the worse the burning. Laser has helped desensitize some of that feeling but it's still there and it gets unbearable at times. I'm so sorry you have this awful symptom. There are meds that help with the pain but I know very little about them. My derm prefers me to go the laser route because all those meds have side effects and I tend to be overly sensitive to ALL meds that I'm put on unfortunately. Some of the meds that help are Lyrica and so is neurontin. Here is a thread from the Forum that may be helpful: http://forum.rosaceagroup.org/viewtopic.php?t=2293&start=75 Best of luck to you Beth!! Besides the redness and p&p.I am permanently pink-red and sometimes the color gets more intense but even when I´m less red I feel the acid burning pain. The pain comes and goes but it´s there most of the time...and also I feel itchy sometimes.Could anybody tell me...is this rosacea? or something else ??? As soon as we realize and embrace that fact then it will all seem easier. In M. Scott Peck's book 'The Road Less Traveled' he talks about that in the book. That life is difficult and that aas soon as we understand that it becomes manageable. I hope I'm making sense because it's hard sometimes to explain what I'm trying to say. Just that no one has a stress free life and we can't expect that. It's just the way it is. I think reducing the total time you are conscious of your rosacea should be your first step. The worst is to binge eat some sugary foods in an attempt to comfort some of your stress. Stay away from suspect foods, and reduce stress by regular exercise and mental relaxation. I know its easier said than done.Adam.---------------------------------Luggage? GPS? Comic books? Re: [rosacea] Hey all of you (rosacea gone) tamara z cream worked again!

Hi Tamara, So glad things are going well for you again. I'll miss you though. So how are you handling maintenance at this point? Z cream once a week? I was doing okay but then Sunday my eyes started up! I think I got jinxed by the sudden topic of occular rosacea LOL..............bummer! Last night I took a 100 mg. of doxy (figured I waited long enough to see if this would subside naturally) and it pretty much killed my insides today. Which is odd because 100 mg. once a day never bothered me before. Ah well, it's back to burning eyes and face for me for the moment. If you find the time, we'd love to have you check in periodically with your sunny little disposition . You take care and all the best. Love, Elenatamara <roseflowerbloom@yahoo.ca> wrote: Hey!!! I thought I would post here and as its been awhile, I wanted you all to know the z cream worked again, my rosacea gone. For those of you who dont want to go that route, and afraid of the roller coaster ride, I did research and found another effective remedy in treating demodex mites which is called tamanu oil which hopefully depending on where you live can be purchased at a natural health store. You apply it nightly (not past 8pm in my opinion) and put on every night for many months until you see your rosacea gone or diminished as you know your skin, also whats very important is how you eat, so try to stay away from sugar,as this can slow down the healing process, also rosemary tea is good to help get rid of them, drink lots of water! and try to eat fairly healthy, stay away from alcohol and greasy foods. Anyway, I will probably not be posting on here much, but do want to say I will miss many of you who I shared great conversations with, and always had the delight of great interesting topics, in general just supporting each other. Thanks a billion, this group is and always be fantastic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!take care tamara p.s vitamin B is also good for immune system takin daily while clearing skin. and acidophulus (supporting good bacteria) ---------------------------------Need a vacation? I'm a bit slack now but I do know that it helps so much. There are a number of tests that you can do, which may indicate if you have a yeast infection. It's my understanding that none of these tests are 100% reliable. The basic thing is knowing your body. Yeast overgrowth can occur in a number of areas. Most commonly for women it is 'down below' and can itch like mad. Not fun!!! It can also present on the tongue, where your tongue has white bumps all over or in patches. Also not fun!!! It can also be internal but this is harder to detect, as it can't be seen. Can sure be felt though! Can you guess that I've had the lot from too many anti-biotics?! Urgh!Having yeast infections can really muck your body about. I could go on and on about this but I haven't the energy tonight (sorry). It's a bit late here now but will endeavour to add more over the next few days.Today was beautiful and sunny, so I spent the day outdoors. The rest of the week has a forecast of rain, wind and general inside weather. Great for my garden but means I will most likely spend more time on the computer.Jen (not the Jen who got married on the weekend)[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]-- Rosacea Support Group: http://rosacea-support.orgRosacea Support Resource Pages: http://rosacea-research.org/wikiNEW!: Rosacea Support Group Forum: http://rosacea-support.org/forumYahoo! [rosacea] Dry Eyes

After Cataract surgery, I had a severe case of dry eyes, probably aggravated in addition by Ocular Rosacea. Using very hot water on a washcloth, wringing out and applying to eyes was helpful. Restasis seemed to kick in after a month or so and I continued fish oil supplements and flaxseed oil in juice. Also believe that Vitamin C was helpful. My eyes were unbelievably sore and are now what I would call normal -- still using Restasis. Those who are suffering should not give up -- there is light at the end of the tunnel. Here is an article I just received in my Cleveland Clinic Newsletter concerning dry eyes: Regards, Betty L.A Fishy Solution to Dry EyeIncreasing your intake of omega-3 fatty acids may help improve dry eye, especially for older women, according to a study in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition.Dry eye causes burning and a gritty, itchy feeling because tears evaporate too quickly. Tears are composed of three layers consisting of oil, water and mucus. Dry eye affects the balance of these layers so that tear quality is decreased. That same delicate balance is affected by omega-3, a fatty acid found in fish such as tuna and salmon, and in vegetable sources such as flax seeds, hemp seeds, walnuts and canola oil."The authors of the study divided fats into two groups: good fats, or omega-3s, which are derived from seafood sources, and bad fats, derived from things like margarine and butter," says Bennie Jeng, M.D., an ophthalmologist at Cleveland Clinic's Cole Eye Institute. "If you consume a higher ratio of good to bad fats, you have a lower chance of developing dry eye."Dry eye can be caused by several factors, including hormonal imbalance, malfunction of the tear-flow system of the eye, inflammation, overexposure to air-conditioning or heating and some medications. Laser eye surgery and environmental factors, such as smoke and contact lens use, can temporarily worsen symptoms."Patients often ask if there is a way they can adjust their diet to prevent dry eye. In the past, we sometimes recommended taking flaxseed oil, but this study suggests a correlation between good fats and a decreased chance of developing dry eye, so eating omega-3-rich seafood may be even more helpful," says Dr. Jeng. "A comprehensive evaluation by an ophthalmologist skilled in treating dry eye is also a good idea if your symptoms persist or are severe."WEB EXTRA! [rosacea] Microderm Abrasion

Hi all, I have gotten 2 rounds of IPL, and the woman suggested that the next time I come in, she do microderm abrasion on my face before the IPL so the IPL can be more effective. (Apparently I haven't been that red when I've come in, and the IPL can only target what redness is currently there. The microderm abrasion will bring out the redness & hopefully make IPL more effective.) I think she will include the microderm abrasion in my IPL price, which is awesome! My concern is if people with rosacea can tolerate microderm abrasion, or if it'll really exacerbate my rosacea & be a horrible mistake. Any ideas/experience? Thanks so much!-- Rosacea Support Group: http://rosacea-support.orgRosacea Support Resource Pages: http://rosacea-research.org/wikiNEW!: Rosacea Support Group Forum: http://rosacea-support.org/forumYahoo!
